New Algorithm for Detecting Road Lanes

Lane detection systems play a crucial role in the context of advanced driver assistance and autonomous driving systems. Such systems can reduce the number of traffic accidents and improve driving safety by warning the driver in dangerous traffic situations. In addition, the detection of traffic lanes with their left and right borders, along with the recognition of their types, is of great importance because they provide contextual information. Lane detection is a difficult task because road conditions and light conditions change while driving. This article proposes a new combined method for determining traffic lanes based on the pyramidal-recursive method and multi-modal segmentation. The results of modeling the proposed method in comparison with known approaches are presented.
Keywords: Definition of traffic lanes, pyramid-recursive method, segmentation, marking, reference points
