Holopov, Leader Engineer, Lebedev Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering The possibility of transformation from distributed control systems into systems with centralized control function is considered. The architecture of the digital centralized control system built on the principle of "outstretched hand" is proposed. This architecture makes it possible to simplify the structure of the terminals to the automatic level, and thus eliminate the necessity to change these devices when upgrading the system. Peripherals are now turning into cyclic automatons performing simple low-level functions: measurement and implementation of control actions. For the central computer, the issued terminals become self managed, active, and observed with delays, which are commensurable with the delays of direct connection to the central computer.
