Using Analytical Ontology-Based Information Systems for Scientific and Technological Information Search

This paper presents a method of improving search query processing algorithms in information retrieval systems via integration with specialized knowledge bases which can provide additional information on preferences and interests of a given user. The method has been tested on the AS-TAI and ISTINA systems being developed in the Moscow State University. ASTAI is an information retrieval system with some advanced functionality. The goal of the ISTINA system is to record and semantically analyze metadata of research works produced by scientists within academic institutions.
