The article describes Data Processing and Geo Information System (DPGIS), which is being developed in Melentiev Energy Systems Institute (ESI) of Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The main purpose of developing software is to increase effectiveness of study and forecasting prospective interstate electric power connections. To study scenarios of expansion and operation of prospective electric power interconnections, special mathematical optimization model developed at ESI is used. Original technologies of data collection and storage in the Integrated Object-Oriented Database are offered. Technologies of data processing and representation in DPGIS Interface are considered. A computational experiment by DPGIS was performed; it has resulted in obtaining the most convenient aggregated forms for analysis and representation of optimization model solutions. Because of DPGIS application, efficiency and quality of scientific research in the field of prospective interstate electric power connections are increased.
